A prehung door comes in its jamb with the hinges hung, so the install is an hour, not a morning. A slab door is the door alone, for an opening whose jamb is staying.
Hollow core is light and cheap and fine for a closet. Solid core is heavier, blocks more sound and closes with a better feel, which matters on a bedroom next to a living room. Solid doors need three hinges and a level opening.
On a partial remodel, match the panel count to what the house already has. Six-panel suits most older DFW houses; one- and two-panel suit a newer build or a slim shaker kitchen.

Prehung when the jamb is damaged or out of square, or the opening is changing. Slab when the existing jamb and hinges are staying, in which case the hinge positions are measured off the old door.
Hollow core for closets and rooms where sound doesn't matter. Solid core for bedrooms, offices and bathrooms, where you want the door to block noise and feel substantial.
